Hi ashrouten,
You could add this CSS to My Site > Customize > CSS to make the site fill the whole screen without any space on the sides:
.site { max-width: 100%; }Keep in mind doing that may alter the appearance of other elements of the theme.
One alternative would be to change the grey background colour to white so that there’s no obvious deadspace or borders on the sides. You should be able to do that by going to My Site > Customize > Colors & Backgrounds. You can use the colour picker or enter #ffffff to choose white.

I tried this but the main image on the homepage wont fill across the screen or centre. Is this because of an empty sidebar widget?

Hi Ash,
Once you’ve added the css provided by Elly, please also try adding the css below to make the image fill the available space.
.hero-content img { width: 100%; }Just to note – using css to increase the size of images beyond what the theme was initially designed for may make the them blurry on larger screens.

Hi –
garysixtyeight and ellybiddle have shared the CSS you need to add to the customizer in order to expand your hero image. I think this will give you the look you want after testing both codes on the site.
