"Home" tab edit or delete

  My “home” page contains information that I want to move to another tab. So I want to edit the content of the “home” tab. I can find no way to do so. Therefore, I want to either delete my “home” tab, or at least delete its content, but that seems impossible also. The only way I can think of to work around it is to delete all my site’s content and other tabs, and then reinstate them.

  The “tab” is the title of a post, Page, or category, and I assume you mean a Page as you are referring to the primary navigation menu of the site.

  If you wish to move content from one Page to another:

  1. Edit the first Page
  2. Select and CUT the content from the page.
  3. Click Update.
  4. Edit the second Page where you wish to put the content.
  5. Place the cursor where you with the content to go and choose PASTE.
  6. Click Update.

  If you wish to control the look and feel of the main navigation, go to Appearance > Menus and change it. The instructions are there on how to proceed. You may also change the Page title there or on the Page itself.

  Your home tab links to your blog-page where posts you write are arranged in reverse chronological order. If you don’t want to display posts, then you can set a static landing page and add pages to your navigation menu.

  First, you must understand the differences between posts and pages:

  Then you can set up a static landing page (sometimes called a home page) which you’d use to introduce the topic of your website. Maybe like an “about” page.

  • You can move the post you now have on your home page as a post to a static page.
  • To preserve your formatting, be sure you are editing from your dashboard. Also switch to the text editor.
  • Copy all of the code from the post.
  • Add your new page, and using the text editor paste all the code.
  • Publish.

  You can arrange your navigation tabs by creating a custom menu.
