    If you look at my home page can you please tell me what that sidebar is all about, with a weird blue symbol. How did it get there, how do I get rid of it, and then replace it with an image of myself and some text? Thanks.

    The answer depends upon what widget or block is situated at the top of the sidebar widget area. It appears to have included an automatically generated identicon, in the absence of an avatar.

    One way would be to replace that widget or block with an Authors Widget, or a Gravatar Profile Widget, each of which may display your gravatar profile image.
