I have a ‘homepage’ displayed. I haven’t had that before, and I’m not sure how to work around it. The problem I’m having is that none of my top menu pages are reacting like they have on other WP sites I’ve used. For instance, placing the pages in the order inshich I want them to appear by numbering them, 1, 2, 3, etc has no effect. Niether am I able to place pages as sub pages for the main menu ones. All of the pages display on the top tier level.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

It sounds like your site might be displaying the default pages menu that some themes have. If so, then that menu can be replaced by a custom menu as described in the Create a Custom Menu section of the Custom Menus support page.

Niether am I able to place pages as sub pages for the main menu ones. All of the pages display on the top tier level.

There are at least two generations of sub-menu items under the top-level “Albums” menu item. Have you resolved this issue?

For instance, placing the pages in the order [in which] I want them to appear by numbering them, 1, 2, 3, etc has no effect.

On a test site I was able to display the items in a default pages menu in the numerical order set as described in the Order section of the Page Attributes support page. So it’s not clear why your attempt to do so might have failed. Have you followed the instructions in that section of the support page?

I should have said “On a test site with the Chateau theme activated.” The Chateau theme is retired, and prior to my tests with Chateau activated I thought that might be a factor.

    Thanks for the help. :)

Yeah, it’s too bad about Chateau being retired. IMO, it was/is the best one of all – by a country mile. I’m glad I get to use the legacy one. Not even sure I would continue with WordPress using the other themes, as I just don’t like them much and I’ve become familiar with Chateaus – this being the first instance of my having a problem with it.

I , somehow, stumbled upon the solution you mentioned. I managed to have more than my usual low-level patience and worked it out. The visual nesting on the right hand panel, but that’s what did the trick.

If you’d like I can give you a screenshot of it.

    Yours truly.

Good job figuring it out on your own. I use a retired theme as well, and understand your attachment to Chateau. No need for the screenshot. Thanks anyway. : -)
