Homepage Formatting in Harmonic Theme
-
Hi,
I have just changed my site to the Harmonic theme. What I want to accomplish is a big plain graphic on the homepage with only a few choices up at the top. What I have accomplished is almost there but there is a big ugly black line at the bottom that covers part of my painting (!)
The site is: joannetaeuffer.com
The theme allows for a number of sliding options on the homepage, but in the demo it looked like you could eliminate those options and get a clean big graphic page.
So I have set to “not visible” all of the following: news, page, widget, portfolio.
The image I want shown on the home page is stored in the page called “Recent Work” that uses “front page” format and is the designated homepage AND in the customizer under “theme options>title>background.”
Any thoughts on whether it is possible to dump that black line or is it just the way it is?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Joanne,
Are you referring to the black footer which also has the theme/WordPress.com credits? If so, I’m afraid it can’t be removed as per policy.
Credit text can’t obviously be changed or altered, but height of the footer can be reduced a bit using CSS, leaving more room for your painting.
Try the following code IF a staff member gives a go-ahead for adjusting footer height. Requires Premium/Business plan:
#footer-nav-wrapper { height: 35px; } #footer-nav-wrapper .site-info { padding: 5px; }Needs to be pasted in Customizer > CSS.

Thank you. I was afraid that would be the answer. Maybe I’ll just create an image of my painting with a border at the bottom so the ugly black band doesn’t cover anything important! (I’m nothing if not pragmatic.) Thanks for being willing to help out us less savvy WordPress users!
