Homepage going into Page not Found mode when I return to it from other pages
-
Why is my homepage going to Page not Found when I return to it from other pages on the site?
When I go to my site: http://www.juliaderek.com my homepage comes up just fine. If I then click to go to any of the other pages, it still works fine. But when I want to return to the homepage, it doesn’t display the homepage, but Page Not Found. I can go back and forth fine with the other pages.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Julia

Hi Julia,
It appears that an older page is being used on the Custom Menu on your site.
You can remove the “Home” page menu item via the Appearance->Menus page (direct link: https://juliatheswede.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php ).
My suggestion for a home page link is to click on the “Links” option on the left of the menu editor, then replace “http://” with just a single / and change the link text to Home.
That will ensure that no matter where folks are on your site, they’ll always go back to the homepage.
For screenshots, a video and more instructions on menus, check out our support doc here:Custom Menus.
If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know!

Hi Kraftbj,
thanks, but that did not work. After following your instructions, the homepage still doesn’t work right, and now I also have two home pages on each menu. I don’t want to have two homepage tabs on the menus.
What must I have done wrong?
Thanks in advance.

You were almost there. All we needed to do was click on the original “Home” item in the menu editor to click remove, and drag the new one into position. I helped finish the job, so it should be looking good now!
Cheers!
