Homepage isn’t showing any information when I try to edit it, but I am able to view all the work I have done.

My homepage seems to have become essentially uneditable, all the information is stored because I can view it, but it doesn’t show up when I try to edit it. None of the other pages have this problem. I’ve cleared my cache but that didn’t seem to help. The homepage just shows a blank screen that says ‘home’ when I try to edit it. The other pages on my website are editable.

  • Hi there, it sounds like you may have placed your homepage content within the “template” of your home page (accessible via the Site Editor, which is under Appearance > Editor (beta) ) rather than within the homepage “content area” which would be under Pages > All Pages > your homepage.

The Site Editor is intended to affect overall ‘scheme/layout’ aspects of the site, including things like colour schemes, font choices, and the default page layouts for all pages. It’s also useful for doing things like setting up a ‘header’ area with the site menu and possibly a logo/banner, and footer.

There’s a guide for it here, for reference:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-editor/

If you head into Appearance > Editor (beta) then your homepage content should show up so you can edit it, but let us know if it still gives you trouble!
