Homepage Modification CSS (Arcane Theme)

Hi!
I’m just starting to learn about CSS and still need help with my website. Here is my current problem:
I set up my homepage so that it would display my most recent articles but I feel as if the “block” formed by the article’s title + featured image + extract is too large.
Would it be possible to:
– reduce it’s size
– and/or to set up my website so that the articles would appear side by side instead of one under the other?
(Using CSS of course, I’d rather not change my theme)If anyone had a few CSS lines to share, I would be grateful.
