homepage option selections

  i’m confused about how to rearrange my home page so that it displays what is currently on my “movie reviews” page. i set my homepage for ‘home’ and posts page for ‘blog’ (movie reviews) in the customizer but it wont let me swap the two for some reason. additionally, is there a way I can manually select which blog posts are displayed on my homepage? thanks

  Rather than thinking of swapping them, I think it might be easier to take one step at a time. To display the default blog (aka posts page) on the homepage, at Customize > Homepage Settings > Your homepage displays, choose “Your latest posts.” If you do so, then the page presently displaying the blog will revert to a static page, and will display it’s content. If there’s no content, then it will display a blank page.

  If you want your menu item “Movie Reviews” to link to a page that displays a selection of your posts, particularly those that are film reviews, I’d suggest that you link it to a category page. See the Category Pages support page for relevant information and instructions.

  Not if it’s set to display the latest posts. However, if it’s a static page, then you might insert a Blog Posts Block into the page to display a chosen number of posts. You can limit the posts to display by category with the Post Meta Settings.

  hi,

  thank you, that worked for me but I decided to instead rearrange some options. however, the last three posts at the bottom of my home page are now glitching, on both my laptops the excerpt text from the blog posts are bleeding into my footer. when i edit the page directly, the formatting is fine but once i select customizable options, the images stretch out and the text bleeds through again. do you know if this is just glitch or if there is something wrong w the way i formatted my site?

  thank you! im referring to when i hit customize and then try to rearrange the columns with different formatting–it only begins bleeding through when I select grid view but it doesn’t show up like that when I directly edit the page, if that makes sense. but I can wait for staff feedback regarding this problem

  Hm, yeah that’s not supposed to happen, sorry!

  We have an open report about this with our developers, and they’ll take care of this when they can: https://github.com/Automattic/themes/issues/1829

  Meanwhile, I recommend trying a different layout or theme for now.

  @tiffanyhue has encountered the same types of formatting errors on the Gazette theme as she did on Canard, and on the same page. See the topic blog page set as homepage not working.
