I can’t seem to limit the number of posts on my homepage, even if I set it to 5 in “Settings” – “Reading”, it still displays all of them?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hey Nick!

Once you turn off Infinite Scroll, this should work out fine.

In your Dashboard, click Settings → Reading, or simply click here:

    https://nickwilliamsdotnet.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php

Where you see, “To infinity and beyond: Scroll Infinitely,” you will un-check that box to opt out.

    Then save your changes.

That should do the trick! If I can help in any other way, please drop me a line. Cheers :)

Thanks, so just so I understand, is the infinity feature, something that keeps the page trimmed until the user scrolls down? So in effect I don’t need to reduce the amount of posts on my homepage because only the posts that the user scrolls to are fetched and displayed?

    Thanks,
    Nick

    Exactly right.

If you opt-out of the Infinite Scroll, the user will see the amount of posts that you assign to the front page. At the bottom of those posts, there will be an option to click to see older posts.

If you opt for infinite scroll, the page will auto-load 7 new posts every time one of your readers scrolls down the page.

I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!
