Homepage showing latest post

Hi everyone,
Probably a silly question that has a really simple answer but I’m just wondering how do you get your homepage to show only your latest post and then have a link to older ones? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, you can do this in a couple of ways and they will have an impact on the display of every other archive page on your site, like the author, monthly, category, etc. pages.
The first way is to change the number of blog posts to display at https://wordpress.com/settings/writing/ to 1 and a little further down that settings page, disable “Infinite Scroll”. What this will do is limit the display to one blog post per page and if someone wants to read additional posts, they’ll need to click on the “Older Posts” button that appears just below the post. If you add a widget, like Archives or, better, Recent Posts, to the Footer, Infinite Scroll will automatically be turned off and your site visitors will have easier access to your older posts.
The second option is to change your theme’s Content Options from displaying the full post to displaying an excerpt. You can change this setting in your site’s Customizer>Content Options. Remember to publish your changes. What this will do is change the display of every post to just an excerpt, including your first post.
The last option is to manually add a More tag to your older posts so that the latest post will show in full, but the older posts will only show an excerpt. This is initially the most “labor intense” but is closest to what you describe.
I hope that is clear, but let me know if you have any other question about it.
