Homepage sidebar problems, help please

    I can’t seem to control my home page sidebar very well. I got the “Blogroll” posted, but the links shown were all wordpress self-promotion. The links I wanted under that heading on the right, instead showed up as large posts on the left, moving down the photo I want to stay at the top. What am I doing wrong? Thanks-

    I’m new to blogs. Had to get blog set up a.s.a.p. as an emergency resource. Tried to watch tutorials, but can’t find the specific answers I need. So, I appreciate your responses. I have some other questions I need help with; will post later. Thanks!
