horizontal scrollbar in 2014

  I am in the process of moving my non-profit’s website from wordpress.org to wordpress.com (’cause we are really non-profit) and while I like the 2014 template very much, I find that the nested menu items on the far right fall outside the visible screen area. When I put my mouse on the menu item (eg. Good Stuff), a horizontal scrollbar appears which would seem to make those items available, but as soon as I move the mouse down to access the scrollbar, it disappears. Am I missing something obvious here or should I just dump the nested menus? Thanks
