Horrified by spam comments

  OK – I’m no prude. But suddenly I’m getting hundreds of spam comments that are… uh… filled with references to the male of our species and his anatomy. I’ve only been on here about two months, and the first month I’d get perhaps a dozen spam comments per day, tops. None were what I’d call obscene. Now, I’m over 1500 and climbing fast, and I’m reading about things that are pretty high on the explicit scale. Have I done something to attract this particular brand of spam? Is there anything I can do about it? I sure don’t want to click any of those links, for any reason, unless there’s no other way to stop them.

  Just delete them.

  Yep, I do delete them – pronto. I just was curious why they suddenly started popping up. This may simply be a part of life on the internet I haven’t bumped up against yet.
  Naivete is a wonderful thing, I suppose.

  You’re welcome. And don’t worry about them; Akismet catches them. A few weeks ago I was getting 50 – 100 per day for ringtones then online gambling then nothing.

  As Vivian said, just delete them.
