Host my owrdpress blog on wordpress not hostgators

  I would like to host the domain I purchased to my wordpress site instead of the hosting client that was set up for me 4 years ago. How can we make this happen?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  Is this for the domain, akingalso.com?

  You can reset that domains name servers to WordPress.com from this page:

  https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/akingalso.com/name-servers/akingalso.com

  Note that the moment you do this your Hostgator site will go offline, and any DNS records you have set up for email to work will stop working. So please make sure you first import any content you want to be here first, and add any DNS records you need for email to your domain here.

  So if I reset the servers, will my page stay the same as it is currently? Will it function the same? Will it be back to being just a blog/website?

  At the moment your domain is showing a site built at Hostgator.

  If you reset the name servers to WordPress.com it will show the site you created here 5 years ago, akingalso.wordpress.com Yyou won’t be able to view the site at that address, as it’s currently set to redirect to your Hostgator site, so you can see that site’s dashboard at http://akingalso.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ That site has only 3 pages on it, so is essentially empty.

  If you want the same content on your Hostgator site to be on that site you’ll need to move it here first:

  Moving from a Self-Hosted WordPress to WordPress.com

  You won’t be able to use the same design as on your Hostgator site, but will need to pick on of our themes and configure it on this side.

  I only use WordPress to edit my site, I am using a wordpress theme already, the only thing hostgator is doing, is hosting my site. I do zero maintenance and nothing else from their site.

  I only use WordPress to edit my site

  There are two versions of WordPress. On Hostgator you are using the self-hosted WordPress software, called WordPress.org.

  It is similar, but not the same as the software we use on WordPress.com. If you move your site here, then you will be hosted by us, not Hostgator, and you will be using our version of the WordPress software. The theme you are using at Hostgator will not work with our version of WordPress.
