Host Websites

I want to move away from Go Daddy. Have an Org site and a blog site here. I want to merge the website to the blog site. What are the costs? I have already paid for the domain name through 2021 and web service through 2022. Can I talk to someone instead of text?

    How do I get help?

  • Hi there,

So you want to take the content currently at http://www.keyman4uministries.org/, combine it with your blog at https://keyman4uministries.wordpress.com/, and then move that domain here so it’s connected to the blog instead?

To move the content from your website to the blog, go to WP-Admin ->Tools ->Export on the website and export your content. Then you can import it to the WordPress.com site at My Site ->Tools ->Import.

    Import a Website

Once you’ve imported the content, you can map or transfer the domain to us. This will require that you upgrade the WordPress.com site to one of our paid plans – even though you’ve already paid for the domain at GoDadddy, that does not cover our costs for the service we provide to let you use your own domain with us.

You can go to My Site ->Plans to choose a paid plan, and then see the two options for using the domain here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/

We do not provide phone support, but we do provide live chat support on all our paid plans.

Thank you for the information. That is more than I had. I have no programming background and I would like to learn. I do have some time before I am required to move therefore It gives me time to learn. Any suggestion on what I need to know or learn to get started, besides what you have identified? I could go to the Business pricing and still be less then what I have currently paid. that is not an issue. My problem is a lack of knowledge. If I have to restart my web page that is not a problem just as long as I keep my current domain name. There is nothing that I have on the other site that is not replaceable.

First off, you don’t need to know anything about programming to use WordPress.com. Our platform is designed so that anyone can create a website, even if you’ve never done it before, and the process doesn’t involve any code. You essentially just select a theme, change some settings to customize it, and then type in the content you want to appear on your site.

We have a detailed tutorial to help you learn the basics at https://wordpress.com/learn/, and we’re happy to help here should you run into anything you don’t understand.

That is completely up to you, but as your existing site is also using WordPress, you should be able to move all your existing content here with very little effort.
