HostGator holding onto link?

  I created a blog called 44th Indiana.wordpress.com and decided to try HostGator for hosting. I was unable to get the blog loaded and cancelled the trial subscription along with the domain name of 44thindiana.com. I now cannot access my blog. Is there something other than contacting HG (who probably isn’t interested in assisting me) I can do. Since it was never actually ported to their site I thought there was no linkage. Thanks!
