Hi there I am a bit confused… 1/with the free packadge even though I purchased my own domain name does wordpress run their own adds since there is a – next to the no adds? 2/ what is the difference between a premium packadge here vs bluehost or hostgater? 3/ it has a – in the google analytics colum as well does that mean google analytics isn’t availalbe for the free and premium version? Thanks so much for taking the time to answer I’m just a bit confused on this whole starting a webpage thing! -Suncana

    Hi,

I’ll be happy to answer your questions. :)

    1. Ads will be shown on sites even if it has a domain registration. Although you’ll have paid for the domain, the hosting part is still free. Ads will be disabled only when you upgrade to either WordPress.com Premium or WordPress.com Business — both of which offer varying space upgrades and other features. You can learn more about them here: http://store.wordpress.com/plans

    2. You’re on WordPress.com when your site is here with us. With Bluehost or other hosting companies, you’ll be using a self-hosted WordPress.org site. Which means you’ll have greater flexibility with the site, but it’ll come at the cost of additional maintenance and security hassles.

On WordPress.com, we take care of the security and updates so that you can focus on creating content. The customization options are available on WordPress.com too, but it’s not as flexible as a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

There are some more differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you aren’t sure about the differences, please check the following article that details the differences: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org

    3. Google Analytics can only be used with a site that has the WordPress.com Business plan. All other sites, including the free ones, will have their stats on the built-in WordPress.com stats at http://wordpress.com/sites

Hope those answered your questions. :)
