  Will I need an additional hosting platform (such as host gator, godaddy, etc.) when building a site via wordpress.com

  Hello

  Nope, you won’t need one because WordPress.com will do the hosting for you. However, the free version of WordPress.com will only give you the basic features. If you need to, for example, use a custom domain, or increase the space, you will need to make certain payments.
