  Is it possible to host a WordPress.com blog with an outside company, such as GoDaddy? The girl I talked to on the phone had never heard of WordPress and said it wouldn’t work. Is this only something I can do with WordPress.org?

  Yes, this is only something you can do with WordPress.org. WP.com is a HOSTING company, which means the blogs stay here, on WP.com’s servers. You can download WordPress software from WordPress.org and use that in your webspace if you get hosting elsewhere, but be sure to check it out in advance; not every webspace offered will do php and MySQL and so won’t be compatible with WordPress software. WP.org and WP.com work similarly in terms of the way you write posts and such; it’s almost identical.

  But ANYBODY who works at GoDaddy really should have heard of WordPress!
