I’m having trouble trying to connect my new website to my hosting service. I’ve connected my domain name to the host without issue. It provides a plug-in to connect to my site. But, it looks like I need to have a business account in order to use the plug-in? Can I not have an outside hosting service with wordpress unless I pay extra for the business account?
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hello! 👋🏼
I checked your site and the domain, and from what I see, everything is set up properly 😊
It provides a plug-in to connect to my site. But, it looks like I need to have a business account in order to use the plug-in? Can I not have an outside hosting service with wordpress unless I pay extra for the business account?
I believe there’s a misunderstanding — your subscription plan already includes a site hosting, so you don’t have to purchase any additional hosting plan with 3rd-party providers.
Regarding using the plugins, yes — your site will have to be on a Business plan to use them on your site.
However, can you please provide us more details on the plugin you’re trying to use?
You might not need it at all given all the above 😊

Hi dragstor,
Thanks for your response. I purchased hosting service from Siteground before I had a registered domain name. Once, I had my domain name and WordPress site started, I attempted to connect everything to Siteground. I’ve already added my domain name there. In order to transfer hosting for my website there, Siteground provides a plugin to do so. That’s when I realized I would not be able to use it because I only had a premium account.

There are two versions of WordPress – WordPress.com and WordPress.org. WordPress.com is a hosted version of WordPress where we take care of your website’s security, updates and maintenance while you can focus on your content. At WordPress.com, the installation of plugins and themes is allowed only with a Business plan subscription. However, we have lots of built-in plugins and a variety of themes to choose from.On the other hand, WordPress.org websites are self-hosted and require that you purchase your space on the web with a hosting company and you are the one who needs to take care of the website’s security, updates and maintenance. WordPress.org allows you to install custom plugins and themes.
More details on the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org you can find in the link below: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you would like to export your Premium plan site to another hosting provider, you will need to use the Export Tool for that purpose:
https://wordpress.com/support/export/#export-content-to-another-word-press-siteIs there a particular reason why you have decided to migrate to a different hosting provider? Did something on your site not work as expected?
