It looks like it worked but when I go to http://www.cardiganblog.com it is still the “other” blog, I am thinking this has something to do with the URL but I don’t know how to fix it. Also, there are 2 Home pages but when I go to Pages, they are not there, how do I get rid of those.
Thanks for your help. -
It looks like your domain is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet. Currently, it’s set to:
ns67.domaincontrol.com
ns67.domaincontrol.comYou can view this here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/?host=cardiganblog.com
Please go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:
- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
For more information, please visit the help documentation provided by the registrar and our support page:

Hi,
I went to Go Daddy but Cardigan Blog is not there, it was originally done on Word Press. I went to the domain page on Word Press and made cardiganblog.com the primary website. I’m not sure what else I need to do…? -
If you go here, note that your domain’s registrar is GoDaddy:
https://who.wildwestdomains.com/whoisstd.aspx?domain=cardiganblog.com&prog_id=wildwestdomains
We are only your domain’s host. Please note that every domain has a registrar and a host. As a host we have NO access to your domain’s info. We cannot change anything. Only your registrar can do this for you. If you don’t have an account with GoDaddy that means you do not own the domain and you will have to choose a different one. Let me know if that is the case and I can remove it from your account.

Ok, I am totally confused as I started this blog on Word Press and according to Go Daddy they have no record of Cardiganblog.com being hosted by them. What do I do now? My blog is all messed up and I am not a technical person. The woman who I hired to “help” improve the blog will not help me now (after completely messing it up)…please advise. Thank you.

Yes this is true. You are NOT hosting with GoDaddy. You are hosting with us. You ONLY have a domain registration with them. Ask them about the domain registration NOT hosting. Again, you do not have hosting with them. You have a domain registration with them. If they have no record of the domain registration then the domain does not belong to you.

Hi,
Ok, so I found where the name servers are on WordPress and cardiganblog.com is listed but there is a message telling me to do the same thing you did that it needs to be changed to NS1, NS2, etc but when I tried to change them it won’t let me and I get an error. I took a screen shot to show you but I can’t attach it here, is there a way I can send you the screen shot so you can see what I’m talking about.
Thanks again for your help… -
Are these the instructions you were using to update your name servers?
If not, could you try one more time with the instructions above? Remember you want to change your Nameservers to:
- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
If that’s what you’ve tried and it’s still not working, let me know and we can move this conversation to a private e-mail where you can send me an attachment.

Hi,
So here’s the thing, when I go into Go Daddy, and go to my domains, Cardiganblog is not there. But when I go to my domains in wordpress it is there but I don’t think it is mapped properly, when I try to add the NS1.Wordpress, etc it says that there is an error. And there is a message at the top of the domain page that says the name servers need to be changed…I did a print screen that I would like to send you but I can’t paste it here. -

Do you have another GoDaddy account that you could have used to register the domain?
But when I go to my domains in wordpress it is there but I don’t think it is mapped properly
This is true, but because your domain is not registered here, you can’t use our tools to map the domain.
Did you have a developer or consultant help you set up your self-hosted site? Maybe the domain is registered in their GoDaddy account?

Hi,
After some thought, I really don’t want to contact them, it did not end on good terms. I will if I have to but what if I changed the name? Will the blog stay the same with all the content and followers? I searched pink cardigan.com and it looks like that is available….please advise. Thanks! -

Adding a new custom domain won’t impact your site or the followers on http://cardiganblog.wordpress.com/ at all.
Just to be clear, if your visitors use http://cardiganblog.com/ instead of http://cardiganblog.wordpress.com/ or your new domain, they will still be directed to your site on GoDaddy.
To add a new custom domain to your WordPress.com site, just follow these instructions:
It looks like pinkcardigan.com is spoken for, but pinkcardigan.net and some other alternatives are available
Let me know if you have any more questions or need more help.

Hi,
I am going to send her an email and see if they registered the domain name under their account, I’ll let you know what happens. Thanks! -
Hi Liz,
This is the response that I got from my former web person, what do I need to do now? Since I don’t have a web person with a Go Daddy account do I just past them into my WordPress name server section? I don’t want to mess anything up.Please provide your new web person with this information:
You need to get the nameservers from her godaddy account and paste them into her WordPress nameserver section.. if you need help, you should call godaddy and have them walk you through it. Or if you wants to transfer her domain name to WordPress, godaddy can also help you do that.
.These are her nameservers for yourr domain name from godaddy:
ns67.domaincontrol.com
ns68.domaincontrol.com -
It looks like your Web person didn’t understand what we were actually asking. Those instructions would help if your domain was registered with us and you wanted to host your site at GoDaddy. Your situation is the reverse of that.
I don’t have a web person with a Go Daddy account do I just past them into my WordPress name server section?
This won’t work because you need to change the nameserver with your registrar. WordPress.com is not your registrar so there is no where on our site to make this change. GoDaddy is your registrar. If you haven’t been able to figure out how to change your name servers on their site, you can call their customer service and they should be able to help you:
The phone number for GoDaddy support is (480) 505-8877. Here’s what you need to say to them:
I would like to use my domain with a WordPress.com site. In order to do this, I need to point my domain’s name servers to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
I do not want to transfer my domain, but want to leave it registered with you. WordPress.com does not permit mapping by setting an A record to point to an IP address. They require the name servers to be updated as described.
remember, GoDaddy is your domain registrar, not your web host. If they say something like “your site is not hosted here” remind them you are talking about your domain name, not web hosting.

Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that I asked my old web person to transfer the domain name to my Go Daddy account, she said she would so I am just waiting for her to do it, then I guess I can change the name servers and be all set… -
