Hosting and domain

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi. I have a domain and hosting elsewhere. I started creating website/blog here and I need to publish it now.
I also connected my domain to my wordpress site (GoDaddy) and cannot transfer the domain yet (I purchased it today)
When I try to ‘Add domain’ on Worpress.com, I’m being redirected to your shop to get a hosting/domain annual plan. Does it mean I need to buy an independent hosting plan here too?
I don’t see any other option to do it and I really need my website running soon (now, it’s stuck on ‘Coming Soon’ page which I don’t know how to turn off.
    Regards

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

As you already have a domain and hosting elsewhere, you don’t need wordpress.com. Website hosted by Godaddy use the open source wordpress.org. You find all info on the GoDaddy-website. You can get support for wordpress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/

  • Hi there,

WordPress.com and WordPress at GoDaddy are two different things.

Do you want to use the site you created here at 2ladconflab.wordpress.com, or a site you built at GoDaddy?

If you want to use the site you created here with us, you don’t need to be paying GoDaddy for hosting, but you do need one of our paid plans in order to connect, and optionally later transfer, your domain here:

    https://wordpress.com/en/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

If you’ve built a site at GoDaddy, then you’re using the open source version of WordPress made over on WordPress.org. In that case, you don’t need to do anything at all on our end, as your site has no connection to us. You’ll need to contact GoDaddy support for help properly connecting the domain to your site on their end.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
