Hosting and Privacy

    Hi I am looking to use wordpress to build my portfolio, I currently have hosting and a Domian elsewhere. Can I use my current hosting with wordpress? or is it better/easier to manage by closing that hosting and moving to the wordpress professional package?

    Also I need to password protect some of work, due to employment/privacy reasons, I can’t have selected images and posts/work showing up in search engines or image searches. Is it easy to manage this in a grouped area so that viewers aren’t having to constantly enter passwords.

    Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

    Please note that there are different flavors of WordPress:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    If you are already paying someone to host your website and are comfortable with the responsibilities of maintaining a site, you could use the free software from wp.ORG.

    If you are looking for an option where the problems of maintaining a site will be taken care of for you (for free) then you could be looking to use wp.COM with a paid domain mapping upgrade.
