Hosting and WordPress plug ins
-
Hi all. I have a domain name with netregistryy. Need to build a wordress website as we have subscribed to Astra Themes and Learndash (website will be selling online courses) Currently don’t have hosting with anyone. A bit confused as to the process. Netregistry say I need to contact WordPress to ask for the instruction on how to connect the website to the domain?? And I can’t find this on support pages?

Hi there,
The forum you’re posting in now is for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. If you want, you can host your site with us on our Business Plan – the Business Plan will allow you to install third-party themes like Astra and plugins like Learndash.
I see you already have a free site, https://flourishingbodies.wordpress.com/. To use that site, go to My Site ->Plans and upgrade to the Business Plan. Then you can follow these steps to connect your domain:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
And you can install your themes and plugins via those sections in the My Site menu.
Once you own the Business Plan you’ll also have access to live chat support where we can walk you through the steps to do this.
Your other option is to use the open source version of WordPress at another host. In that case you’ll need to sign up for a hosting plan at a provider like Bluehost or Pressable, and follow that provider’s instructions for 1) creating a new WordPress site on their servers and 2) connecting your domain.
In that case you can get help with WordPress-related issues from the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/. But connecting your domain is not something that’s controlled the WordPress software, but by your host, so Netregistry’s instructions were not very accurate in that regard :)
Please let me know if you have any more questions about this.
