Hosting by WordPress
-
My blogsite is hosted (I think) by Intuit. The details are confusing me. But I pay an annual fee for my domain name, etc. I have been pondering whether or not it would be best if everything was handled by WordPress……and I would get the advantage of using all the features there. But I’m not sure of the technical issues. Is there someone I could talk to about this. I would want to keep my domain name. Would that be a problem? Would WordPress handle all the technical details of moving my blog over? I really just don’t know how to go about this altogether. Thanks, Joan

If your website runs on WordPress.ORG software, then you certainly should be able to move to WordPress.COM. The process is relatively straightforward. Here’s an article that should help you get started: https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/

Hey Joan,
Yes, you can keep your domain name and use it at WordPress.com. Every paid plan allows you to use a custom domain for free. You can either transfer your domain to WordPress.com or you can just map it.

https://en.support.wordpress.com/coming-from-self-hosted/As I have already mentioned, you require a paid plan. Please check the pricing.

Thanks. It’s a little overwhelming to me. For now, I’m going to renew my domain where it is and continue as is. Thank you for responding. I am retaining the links and will think further about this later.
