Hosting for WordPress.com

I purchased a hosting plan for WordPress.com before getting the full story.
Learned from a blogger I must have WordPress.org to have hosting. Is this true?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com (here) hosts sites. Was the site you’ve purchased an upgraded plan for https://thenumber6blog.home.blog/ . Can you share more details of what you’re trying to do that isn’t working as you expected. See too this reply from a member of staff to your earlier thread:

    Hello,
Thank you for replies. I am sorry for not being more clear.

I have WordPress.com. for a blog which has nothing
written on it yet, because I don’t know what to do.

I went and purchased web hosting and a domain outside of WordPress for that blog,
but have learned WordPress.org is the version I should have used.

I really don’t know what to do other than to install WordPress.org
on the hosting site and start over

When I search the domain, I see the host says they’re saving
that page. I thought our blog and header would just come up after
installing WordPress. So I (we) are still stuck

    Thank you again

You have a free site https://thenumber6blog.home.blog/ here at WordPress.com all
    ready to go.
However if you’ve purchased an unnamed domain at some other unnamed host and would rather work on a site there then they are the people you need to reach out to for instructions on installing the WordPress.org software there.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
