  Is it possible to host my own domain for free on here, and if so how?

  Hello – All .wordpress.com domains are hosted here, and you can do this with your free account. You will need to register a domain to get started. Follow this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/five-step-blog-setup/

  WordPress.com is very different from WordPress.org. WordPress.org are self hosted sites, using the installation of WordPress. Please read this guide for clarification: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
