Hosting on godaddy.com

  • Unknown's avatar

I am hosting my blog on godaddy.com. It is registered with wordpress.com. I updated the name servers to ns75.domaincontrol.com & ns76.domaincontrol.com and DNS (A record) to 118.139.174.1 as instructed by go daddy.com. However i still get the message “Your domain isn’t pointed to our servers”.

    Hi there!

It sometimes will take up to 48 hours for the nameserver changes to take effect. I just went to vivalahighstreet.com and it looks like it’s working with your new self-hosted site now.

Let me know if you still need assistance and I’ll be happy to help.

Hey can you move my followers and subscribers from the old site to the new one..and the button with which the wordpress bloggers can like the post..

  • Unknown's avatar

I’d be happy to! I just need you to confirm you want your followers moved from “vivalahighstreet.wordpress.com” to your self-hosted site at vivalahighstreet.com.

The Like button can be enabled in your Jetpack plugin settings.

I’ll wait to hear back from you regarding moving your followers. Let me know if you have any questions!

Yes I want my followers from vivalahighstreet.wordpress.com to my self hosted website vivalahighstreet.com . Also I am not able to turn on the publicize setting so that I can attach my facebook profile to my blog.
    Thank you.

I’ve transferred your followers as requested. Please note it may take up to an hour for your stats to reflect this change.

With regards to setting up Publicize, here’s a reference that will walk you through the steps to set it up:
    http://jetpack.me/support/publicize/

I have tried to set up the publicise app however I am getting a Error code: -32301

  • Unknown's avatar

    Ok, thanks for that information.

Everything is set up correctly on our end, but there seems to be a problem with your host’s servers communicating back to us.

You will need to contact your host to have them give you your site’s error logs. What you need to look for are references to this URL:
    http://vivalahighstreet.com/xmlrpc.php?for=jetpack

If you can copy and paste the error logs referencing that URL here, I will be better able to help.

If the file is large, let me know and I will email you separately and you can send us the file as an attachment.

Let me know if you have any questions – otherwise, I’ll wait to hear back from you!

Hey I was able to set up publicise..but when I had a blog on wordpress vivalahighstreet.wordpress.com all my Facebook friends automatically were entered as my followers. But now on my self hosted blog vivalahighstreet.com the Facebook friends don’t add up to the followers list. Also the new people who are subscribing to my blog are not getting added to my followers list..The number of followers have not increased since u helped me to transfer from the old blog to the new one..Thanks

We only transfer followers that have subscribed to your site via the WordPress.com Reader or by email. Other services don’t automatically transfer over.

However, if you’ve enabled Publicize and connected Facebook on your new self-hosted site, your Facebook followers will still receive updates on your new posts.

With regards to new followers, do you have a time frame where they’re not showing up for you? Also, what types of followers are they: email, WordPress.com Reader, or another service? I’ll be happy to look into that further once I get more information from you.

    Hey
I have 35 new user registrations between 26 march to 7 May..but they did not get added..
also I would like to know if there is a plugin with which my followers can have the follow and like button on their reader page itself like it is in a wordpress.com blog??

  • Unknown's avatar

The Like and Follow buttons are included in the Reader on WordPress.com hosted blogs only.

With the new user registrations – did they sign up using the subscription module on your site or do you have an alternative way to sign up followers?

  • Unknown's avatar

No they signed up with their emails..I dont have any alternate way to sign..

  • Unknown's avatar

I sent you an email asking for more specific information on the email addresses people used to sign up. Please respond to that email and I can look into it further.

Let me know if you haven’t received that email.

Hey I think the new user registrations are all spam/computer generated..anyways I am not able to comment on blogger/blogspot and sometimes even wordpress blogs…Also I have a question:when I comment on blogger they asked how do you want to comment .. so how should I comment by wordpress address that http://www.vivalahighstreet.wordpress.com or should I use my url http://www.vivalahighstreet.com ???I have tried doing the both but still my comments don’t show up…

If it’s commenting on Blogger/Blogspot, I’m afraid I can’t help troubleshoot that as the commenting approvals happen on those sites, not WordPress.com. You would need to contact them to see why your comments aren’t appearing.

With regards to “WordPress blogs” – do you know if they are on WordPress.com or self hosted? Also, the site owner may have comment moderation enabled, so your comments may not appear until they approve it.

Finally, it’s possible that your information is getting flagged as spam, which would also prevent your comments from showing up. You can contact our Akismet team to have them look into it by using this form:

I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
