Hosting plan advise
-
Hello, I’m looking to migrate my woocommerce store to your ecommerce hosting plan but I like to know if this plan is suitable for my requirements. Our store is a low traffic store with less than 1000 views a month but we do have a lot of items (around 50,000 skus of simple items) I like to know if your ecommerce whether this store would run comfortable on your ecommerce plan. What sort of server hardware do you offer for this price such as cpu and RAM ? Some of my plugins consume a lot of RAM for example the product csv import tool that runs every hour. Any advise on this would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi –
Yes, you can use our eCommerce plan. The site traffic and the store products will not be an issue on our managed hosting plan. You could even look at the business plan. That gives you the option to install plugins (WooCommerce). It’s a bit cheaper and again, you wouldn’t have issues with site performance.
We have a list of plugins that aren’t compatible with WordPress.com hosting. Take a look at that here:

Please provide the current store URL so we can take a look at that.

Thanks for your reply. The store url is raysandirect.com . I checked the list of unsupported plugins and I’m fine with it as we don’t necessarily need any of those. The two unavoidable plugins are csv import/export such as the ones from webtoffee and datafeed export plugins such as adtribes.
We also use a few plugins from woothemes . Based on our experience the whole woocommerce store as well as the admin area becomes really slow as we start uploading over 10k products which is why I wanted to check this won’t be an issue on your own hosting environment.
If you got some sort of trial or money back period available it does help us decide whether it would work for us because we are talking about migrating a live store. Speaking of which I noticed some of the popular store migration plugins are not compatible either, do you offer your own solution to migrate our existing site to your server?

We do have a migration tool, yes. More info here:
Import Your WordPress Site to WordPress.com — Including Themes and Plugins
We also have a 30 day money back guarantee:
You’ll need a Business or eCommerce plan to import everything including plugins. Honestly the Business plan should be fine.
As for the admin area, I can imaging things might slow down a touch while you’re bulk managing 10K products, if you do that.
But the site itself shouldn’t be slow, and you should be able to do more normal admin functions without trouble.
