Hosting provider not able recover my database connection

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,
Apparently, my hosting provider have had an attack to their SSH almost two weeks ago. Since then, they are not able to recover my database connection.
I can see the WP app installed, also my database, but the database connection is still broken. I can’t access to MySQL due the error: no such file or directory.
I have buckups on WP. Is there any option to recover my data from WP and move it to another hostinger?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi there:

To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.

You should contact your current hosting provider to see if they have any backup of your site’s database because that’s what you’ll need in order to move your site to another provider. If you just have the WordPress backup but no database backup, your content would be lost.

If you still have trouble, please reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:

    I hope that clarifies things!

    Thanks for rhe response!
First at all, I am speaking about wordpress.org
I could found my database backup in my Client Area on hosting provider site. Actually I have it downloaded in my PC, but I don’t know steps to connect this database buckup with my site.

  • Are you looking to move your site hosting to WordPress.com? If so, we can help!

If you are looking to upload your backup to your current host (or to move to another host), you’ll need to contact your host’s support team as there isn’t anything that WordPress.com staff can assist with. We do not have access to host servers other than our own.

    Hi there,

I have WP application installed on my hosting provider, but they cannot restablish the connection to WP. I tried to acces trough MySQL to my php admin, but something went wrong.
I did backups on WP with Updraft.
The question is if I can reinstall WP application to order to try to solve the existing problems. It seems that the connection from my hostinger to WP is failing.

I mean, I want to uninstal and install again the WP app. Will I be able then to recover my data with the existing backup on Updraft? Or I will have clean WP and I will need to proceed with the personalization once again?

    Thanks,

  • Sadly, we can’t provide much help since the site isn’t on our service. We don’t have any access or insight to it.

I suggest asking for help in the public support forum that is designated for folks running their own stand alone WordPress installation, like your site does. That forum is here.
