  I had a site hosted on hostpapa but I had to shut it down because they uploaded their server and the version on my site would’nt work with the upload. So I decided to create a new one here on wordpress but i’m still on a contract with hostpapa !! I’m wondering how I could deal with all of this (can I host my wordpress in hostpapa? when I will host it will it remove the .wordpress.com? can i get my domaine name to be .ca and not .com ?) I’m also paying a domainatcost to be sure that noone can create my site with .ca or .qc.ca, how do I transfer this to my new site ?) Thanks a lot !

  Hi Marjorie,

  You’ll need to think of your domain and hosting as two separate things.

  If you want to host your website with WordPress.com, you wouldn’t need to continue with Hostpapa.

  You’ll be able to use your .ca or .qc.ca domain with WordPress.com, as long as you purchase the Domain Mapping upgrade from the Store. This would let you remove the ‘.wordpress.com’ part of the domain. There’s no need for you to choose a .com instead of a .ca.

  Also, here’s one that will guide you towards using your domain with WordPress.com, if you decide to host here:

  And as for the domainatcost, do you know how I could do that ? Because I’m currently paying them so that nobody can create my site in .qc.ca either ! Thanks alot !!
