Hosting site elsewhere and reusing the domain.
-
Hi,
I registered the above domain with wordpress about 8 months ago and would like to reuse it for a new site I built myself hosted elsewhere.
My questions are – Where can I host my own custom site (html, css files etc.) ? Could I do this for free? How can I point my WordPress domain to where my new site is hosted?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can use conorbroderick.com. for another site – typically you change the name servers to point to your new host. WordPress.COM does not charge you anything for this beyond the regular registration fee (or you can transfer the registration to another company if you want – but not required)
Your CSS files etc. would be on your new host
For free? depends on your new host – all hosts need to be paid some how for the cost or the server and support, either up front like say BlueHost or by putting a few ads on your site (here)

Thanks for the reply.
I’ve managed to get a site running over on Amazon web services using S3 and Route 53 for the DNS. My only problem now is redirecting the domain I purchased from WordPress to point to my AWS endpoint url.
I’ve followed the steps outlined https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/dev/website-hosting-custom-domain-walkthrough.html
But it still isn’t working. Is it possible to do this with WordPress?

http://www.conorbroderick.com/ – loads to a Code’s N Stuff page with a picture of some guy – is that your site?
It can take 24 to 72 hours for changes to reach the far corners of the internet – you will be the last one to see the changes due to caching issues – try clearing your browser cache & forcing a page reload
Best advice – if the above site is really yours – then take along walk, maybe have your favorite drink along the way
