  If you let your custom domain expire with your domain registrar fat cow, then you can still use your WordPress.com subdomain:

  http://trekkingligers.wordpress.com

  There is no charge for your WordPress.com subdomain.

  What is the domain name you might let expire?

  Also are you hosted on WordPress.COM?
  Are you using domain mapping to a blog here?

  The blog linked to your name does not seem to have domain mapping which is why I ask.

  Thanks both. I just confirmed that when I go to trekkingligers.wordpress.com that my stuff is all there so I can let the fat cow domain (trekkingligers.com) expire and retain my content.

  You are using domain forwarding (trekkingligers.com) just forwards all traffic to trekkingligers.wordpress.com – so yes you will be fine – and since you are using domain forwarding you will probably not have any search engine effects.

  However, just in case, a good idea would be to make a new Post telling your readers that the old domain (trekkingligers.com will soon be going away and for them to update any bookmarks to trekkingligers.wordpress.com –
