  I bought a domain through an outside source, along with my hosting. I would like to create the website through WordPress. I am confused how to link the two?

  You are mistaking WordPress.com, which is a hosted blogging solution, with WordPress.ORG, which is the kind of software you use to run an independently hosted blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
