Hosting your own wordpress blog
-
My blog is hosted on wordpress.com, but I’ve just bought a domain and want to host the blog myself.
How do I do this?
Thanks.

1. You hire a web host > http://wordpress.org/hosting/
2. You download a wordpress.org install and upload it into your new site, if the web host does not provide one, and then you read all the installation instructions at http://wordpress.org/ -
3. You choose the theme and the plugins you wish to use and upload them into your new install.

4. Then you follow these instructions to export your blog content out of wordpress.com blog and into your new install.

You’re welcome. There is a more detailed account I posted into a forum thread you can locate by using the forum searchbox. I don’t have the time to search for it. :)

That’s ok, the info at http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org was more than helpful.

That’s the last step and Staff have described it very well. Before you even get to that step I recommend read this page. > http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress
The support forum for installation issues is here but hopefully you won’t need to post to it > http://wordpress.org/support/forum/2
Best wishes for a smooth transition. :)
