Hover over thumbnails to give a bigger picture

A few people have viewed my blog and the main comments are the pictures are too small. There are loads of them so I don’t want to make them any bigger. Is it possible to make the picture bigger as a mouse is hovered over the picture? If so how is it done?

Not sure about a mouse over, but if you add your pics via your media gallery, then when they click on a thumbnail, a larger version of the photo will be displayed.

Also there is a neat little thickbox hack for wordpress.com that will display the large image from the thumbnail on the blog. http://teckline.wordpress.com/2009/09/19/thickbox-hack/

@alankempwets: You can make your images link to the larger original, as mikedeakin says – but not the way he says! See here:

@panaghiotisadam, thanks for that, but my thumbnails work just fine the way I suggested. I upload images then post using the media gallery function, which posts my images as thumbnails, I set how many rows and columns of images I want. When my readers click on the thumbnails they get larger versions of my images. It works just dandy the way I described. Doing it your way means he’d have to post each image seperately which would take longer than my way.

@mikedeakin: Yes, of course your thumbnails work just fine the way you suggested. But if you had checked alankempwets’ blog, you would have seen that he has already inserted groups of separate images, so he needed to know how to manage those first (as a new user, he needs to know that anyway). Plus he’s got image group then text then image group then text etc.: in this case the gallery solution gets too complicated for a beginner. Sorry if I offended you.

I have uploaded the images to Photobucket and added the link in my blog. I can now hover over the image and it appears on the screen. Alternatively, click it and it appears with a white background.
