How accurate and timely are WordPress stats?

    I am new to WordPress and blogging in general. I was wondering how accurate the stats are? How quickly do the numbers update? You see, I have asked quite a number of people (without WordPress accounts) to follow my blog via email. They confirmed their email addresses but they do not appear under my “Email-only followers” list. It’s been a week since they confirmed their email and they claim that they have been successfully receiving notifications that I’ve posted a new entry, but they not part of my email-only list. Is there a way to get a more accurate listing? The number of followers does not update either.

    They are not updated in realtime. And the Followers count has always been glitchy and irregular; staff would get rid of it altogether if they could.
