How adaptable are themes?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi ,

I am very new to this and currently I am learning the basics before I build a website for a small business.

So far I have seen a theme that I like, however there are elements that I would like to incorporate from another theme.

I.E. The theme I will use has a Call To Action section in the middle of the homepage which also includes an image.
What I would like to do is replace this with a scrolling image that I have found in another theme.

Is this possible to do and if so how easy would it be?

    Thanks
    Dan

You’re asking about a WordPress.ORG blog, not a WordPress.COM blog, so you should be in their forums for help with that.

  • Hi danhenshy23! Themes here on WordPress.com can be adapted in a variety of ways, depending on the theme. Even more can be customized with CSS.

If you’re running a self-hosted site – as your other thread seems to indicate – then you have even more flexibility with themes, depending on your skill level. With some HTML, CSS, and PHP knowledge – and an understanding of WordPress theme file structure – the possibilities are endless.

Here are some good resources to learn more about WordPress theme development:

If you need further help with your self-hosted site, please post in the WordPress.org forums, as these ones are for folks hosted here on WordPress.com:

You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:
