How are people finding my blog already?

Hello. I’m new to all of this. I just started a week ago, actually. I just have a question and I haven’t seen it answered anywhere already.
I know it generally takes a few weeks or more before a blog is likely to be indexed on search engines. However, people are already finding my blog. Some people are actually ‘following’ me! I haven’t told anyone I know about any of this since I prefer to keep it as anonymous as possible.
So, I was just wondering where these people are coming from. All I know is that they all seem to be other bloggers. Does wordpress have some sort of internal thing I’m unaware of that’s suggesting my posts to random people?

Look in your stats under “Referrals” and see what you see
WordPress.com has a Reader and someone might have been following the “Food” tag and found you that way.
Congrats for that, I get no strange traffic like that, you also have the Share things enabled so folks can share something on your site with their friends. There is also a section of your Stats page, bit hidden called “Shares” or something like that, see if you have any Share referrals

No shares. And the only referral was 1 today from the wordpress reader. I guess the others found me through the tags I used. I didn’t know tags were wordpress-wide. I thought they only applied to my own site.

You can subscribe to specific tags with the reader, but when you click on a Tag or Category on your blog you will stay on your blog (last I checked)
Also I don’t trust the Shares thing all that much, mine sits at a number for some time then jumps up and sits for quite some time

Thanks. I appreciate the help. I’ve never used ‘readers’ before. All this time if I was reading somebody’s blog article, it was on the actual blog, found through google or something.
But like I said, all this is new to me.

I still remember my first big referral from literally half way around the world. Someone had found my site with a search engine then posted a link in a forum to something I wrote

Cool. I can only hope to someday be quoted like that. So far I mostly just ramble on about whatever pops in to my head.
I’m not really doing this to get traffic or anything, though. It’s just, like, an outlet to avoid going insane.
