How are people reading stuff I have not posted yet?

  • Unknown's avatar

I just looked at my stats for today and found that people are reading articles I have NOT posted on my site yet! This is not good!
How is that possible? How are they getting in and reading my drafts? I do not leave my edit screen open or anything. I’m overly cautious about all that sort of thing.
I’m the sole author and contributor on my blog, I don’t have any social stuff activated or even available. All I have is a like button and a hidden email button, a “Follow button” and an email subscribe widget thing. Could it be one of those opening my site up to this?
I don’t even have my site registered and will never do that.
What is going on? I just switched my site to private to try to stop it before it gets out of control more until we can clear this up.

    Thank you.

When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. I did that for you. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Thank you again, but I can’t remember all these stupid rules.
    I hate forums!

You can contact Staff by email to have private support.

There is no phone support. For all the support options when you have technical support issues see https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/

Those who have a paid upgrade use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ where they will receive a choice of having staff answer your question publicly or privately.

The best contact form to use now is:
    http://wordpress.com/help/contact
Live chat will be available there if we have Happiness Engineers available to chat. When they are not available using that link results in posting to this peer support forum.

    re: direct email support
Also note, that you can email Staff at:
    support@wordpress.com
    or
    help@wordpress.com

Yes, I know about the direct email support, but sometimes it takes at least 4 days to hear anything. That is not a problem unless it’s a situation like this.
I’ll have blown my site to smithereens before then.

As for chat, I don’t have that ability even if activated. It’s blocked in my system.
Paid upgrade isn’t going to happen, period.

I have reached the end of what I can do for you.

  • Unknown's avatar

No problem, this is a staff thing anyway, so I have to wait. If I hear nothing by tomorrow morning, I’ll have to destroy and delete my site. I can’t think of any other way to fix this. So we will see.

    Hello anonsmithe!

I saw that you have contacted us by email and this situation was resolved.

  • Unknown's avatar

So if I don’t have a paid site, does that mean I will not have an answer to my question??? All I want to know is how much of my 3GB data I have used and how much more I have. One more question, don’t know if the pictures I have uploaded but not using count towards my data? And how do I get rid of the unused photos?

Perhaps this is what I get if I pay nothing…NOTHING!

Figured it out! Please ignore my ranting!

    Hi Carinapilar,
Well, it’s sort of resolved and sort of not resolved. Confusing huh?
The only resolve to this one is for me to monitor more closely to see if it happens again in the next month or so.
If it does, I fear the only solution is to shut it all down and blow it up, I don’t know. So I will wait and see if it happens again. It makes no sense how it happened in the first place, but I have also seen some strange things happen on WordPress before without my doing anything.
I’ll go ahead and mark this as resolved for now and we’ll see what happens in the next month or two.
    Thank you.

On a side note: I wish I could register my site too, but that will lead to a security disaster even with the “private registration”.

Sounds like a plan anonsmithe, let us know how it goes and if there is anything else we can help.
