How are these post viewings calculated?

I’m confused. I am putting fresh posts up with great regularity but there seems to be a real lag (almost 24 hours or more) between when they’re published and when the stats list them as ‘ viewed ‘. Today, for example, the most viewed posts are ancient ones from more than a month ago. Wouldn’t the visit of a reader to the front page of the blog immediately register those most recent posts as ‘ viewed ‘. What am I missing here?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The front page views count as views in the total, but they do not count in the post views, since it is impossible to know which posts on the front page that are viewed. Only individual views of individual post pages are counted, e.g. if I go to davegerry.wordpress.com and read all your 5 posts that counts as 1 view in the total number of views, but not on any of your posts, they will all have 0 views from me. If I go to davegerry.wordpress.com/year/month/day/post/ and read a post, that post have one view from me.

This support document on stats talks about how things are calculated as well: http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/ .
