How best to redirect views from Home page to main blog?
-
I want people to click on ‘blog’ or ‘science-fiction’ or one of the tags or archive dates.
Why do so many people view my front page, then leave?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

People only see what they want… If they are interested only then they would go to other pages of your blog…
thats all

1. Front pages of blogs always get more traffic than any other page. Front pages is where readers expect to click in and find your most recent content. It’s also extremely common for most visitors not to click a link that takes them beyond a blog’s front page.
2. It’s my strongly held opinion that setting a static front page is a traffic killer. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2009/12/29/static-front-blog-page-yay-or-nay/
3. It’s my strongly held opinion that setting a sticky post on your front page ought to be avoided at all costs as it conveys the impression to those who click into your front page that nothing ever changes there.

That’s why understanding the the differences between posts and pages and the likely consequences of creating a page based structure. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/05/12/better-blogging-at-wordpress-com-pages-and-posts/
5. Widgets in your sidebar can provide access to content located deeper in your blog. I suggest providing visitors with a Recent Posts widget.

Your home page is the first page that visitors see, and they may not be interested in going any further.
Why not set your homepage back to your blog via Settings -> Reading in your Dashboard?

Please, please, please do no post codex links here. They are NOT applicable to free hosted wordpress.COM bloggers. They apply only to those with wordpress.ORG isntalls. and posting them creates unnecessary confusion.. Our support documentation for free hosted wordpress.COM bloggers is here. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/ -

Studies have shown repeatedly that when presented with a mandatory click-through to get to the content (ie a static front page, etc) over 80% of people will NOT click through. So either accept losing 80% of the people who actually want to read your blog or change the layout.

It’s ok, found it.
Delete home page.
Have categories, and put posts into categories.
Put categories into menu in appearance; problem solved.

“Delete home page” could cause a problem if that static page is still set as your landing page. Make sure you’ve set the blog as the landing page.

I’ve had a bit of a rethink and I’ve reset the Home Page as my landing page, but the first widget shows the most recent posts and the second widget shows my archives (I thought that the tag cloud looked too messy).
