How can an administrator invite himself as a contributor?

Hello. I am administering a website that is a foreign-language university course project (http://flfr480580.wordpress.com/). I have tried to invite myself as a contributor (using another email address than my admin identity address) so that I could see exactly what my students see when they post (exactly which options are available to them as contributors), but I must be missing a step, as I always end up being taken to my admin dashboard, with no view of my alternate, contributor identity. Could someone let me know what I am doing wrong? Thank you. PW

Please make sure to log out of your account when you want to view your site in the eyes of the contributor account. Did you create another account for the contributor account? Please make sure you do and send an invite to that email address.
