How can I access my new site, which seems to have disappeared?

Please help me access my new site (The Erebus Memoirs – http://www.erebusmemoirs.wordpress.com). It’s listed in my list of Blogs, but when I click on it I see a gray screen w/ the blog’s name and this error message: “Not Found. … Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t there.” I transferred my premium theme, Chapters, to this site yesterday. I’m hoping that nothing has happened to it, also.

  • Hi there, your site is set to display your latest posts on the front page (under Settings > Reading).

Since you haven’t published any posts yet, you’re seeing that error instead. As soon as you publish one post, you’ll see the post displayed on your homepage, and the error message will disappear.

Just let me know if you need further help!

Thank you, Kathryn. I appreciate the heads up about the lack of posts causing the problem.

However, my premium theme “Chapters” never did that before, on the old site, which I deleted after I transferred Chapters to this newest site, yesterday — per your instructions. I’m not seeing hide nor hair of Chapters on this new site.

    Did Chapters get lost? :sigh:

  • Your old site had a published post, so that’s why you didn’t see that error there.

The problem has nothing to do with your theme – all themes display an error when the homepage is set to display the latest posts but no posts have been published.

The error is caused by the fact that your site has no published posts, as you can see in your dashboard here:

    https://erebusmemoirs.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

As soon as you publish a post, the error will go away.

I get that. You said that in your previous post.

Because of what you said in that post, I’ve changed to the “static page” format. So, I don’t get the error message. That issue is resolved.

But you’ve still not answered my second — now most important — concern… **Where is my Chapters theme?**

The Dashboard says that the theme Wu Wei is associated with that site. Wu Wei doesn’t come close to what I need on that site, and I did *not* choose it, but even that doesn’t show up. The site is still gray. … No CHAPTERS theme!!!

How do I get my premium Chapters theme to showup on the erebusmemoirs.wordpress.com site?

  • Hi there, I’m glad you sorted out the error message.

I see the premium theme upgrade under Store > My Upgrades here:

    https://erebusmemoirs.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

It just needs to be activated under Appearance > Themes.

I went ahead and did that for you.

Just let me know if you need anything else.

So *that’s* where it was hiding!

As I’m sure you can tell, these things do not come naturally to me.

Thank you so much, Kathryn — for all your help … but especially for your kind patience … and overlooking my s-l-o-w-n-e-s-s in “getting” this.

I still have so many questions — but they are more Chapters theme specific. I’ll try to figure it out myself first and not bug you more than I have to.

Would it be wiser for me to start a new thread for those? … or continue here?

    Again, Thank you.

  • My pleasure!

Each premium theme has its own dedicated forum, so if you have questions about Chapters, please feel free to post them in the Chapters forum here:

    Happy blogging!
