    Hi! I took a break from my blog but now I want to start it up again. How can I reactivate an old site?

    Thanks! Your site wasn’t hosted with WordPress.com but likely a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.

    We cannot access files or data for sites that were hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. But, I’ll try to point you in the right direction.

    If you didn’t keep your hosting when you took a break – which seems to be the case since nothing loads at that site URL, you might be out of luck.

    If by chance you made a full backup of your site before you cancelled your hosting, you should be able to do a restore of that content on a new install of WordPress for that domain. Otherwise, if you didn’t, if your prior hosting provider didn’t keep a copy of your site, your content may be lost for good and you’ll need to start over from scratch.

    Try reaching out to the company who hosted your site previously and see if there’s anything they can do for you.
