How can I add a color background to some text in a post?
-
We want to highlight certain words in different posts. So I want to add a color block behind those words. How do I do that? Using Digg 3 column.
I found 2 exampls of other Digg3 themes that are doing what we want to do, if this helps:

That is a blockquote—the icon in the visual editor that looks like the starting quotation marks. -
In HTML editor paste the code below for a single word or phrase:
<span style="background: #FFFF66;">WORD_OR_PHRASE_HERE</span>
#FFFF66 indicates the background color. Look up info about hex color numbers online to choose what color you want to have for the background -
Where can we find the hex color numbers? And what if we want to have a picture background?
-
you can’t do a picture background without learning CSS and buying the CSS upgrade and making the changes yourself.
Hex colour numbers are listed on websites around the internet. Just google it.
-
A picture background in a single post is possible without CSS – just html:
<div style="background-image:url('URL_HERE?w=NUMBER_HERE');background-position:left;background-repeat:no-repeat;text-align:left;padding:2em;"> TEXT_HERE </div>Number should be the maximum width allowed by the theme.
Various tweaks possible, depending on desired text to image relation etc. -
-
It can get a little more complicated with background attributes (is that the right word?) repeat and placement, but not so difficult. Note, a large picture with a little text shows only a little of the picture, so you must add blank lines, too. Again, not difficult, and worth experimenting with.
As for finding hex codes for colors, I’m lazy enough to use Photoshop the find a color I like, but if you don’t have Photoshop, this is one:
http://html-color-codes.com/or google “color picker” “html color hex codes” “web safe color codes” and so on…

I successfully added a couple of charcoal drawings to my blog and they disappeared in a couple of days. Why do you suppose this happened?
