Hi,
The theme you’re using, Gema, does not seem to have a search bar. You can try to add this using a widget: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/search-widget/

I have added this widget, which works when it’s on a “post” page.. but I really want a search bar on the front page. Anything I can do with css?

Hi, I see the search widget just below your picture on your home page. You seem to have changed the theme to Maxwell.
Do you still need help?
If you can add a search box into a widget area, then you can move it using absolute positioning.
Here is an article about how it works:
http://css-tricks.com/absolute-positioning-inside-relative-positioning/Try out what you find in the article. If you’re note sure how to find CSS selectors, check out this help page:

Gabrielle – do you still need any help with this or have you settled on Maxwell?
Gema doesn’t support any widgets on the front page so it’s not possible to add a search widget there.
