How can I add an image to my header?

I would like to put an image on the top right side of my front page, but don’t know how. Can anyone help?

Is it possible to create a slideshow in the header without a plugin? As I understand that in WP.com you can’t install plugins.
I’ve searched how to do it without plugins and I’ve got my slideshow lined up courtesy of Picasa but now I’ve drawn a blank. -

Is it possible to create a slideshow in the header without a plugin?
It is not possible here at WordPress.com to create a slideshow in a header in any theme that’s not already designed to have one in the first place like Modularity Lite is designed. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/modularity-lite/
