How can I add "contributors" without them having to create an wordpress account

  I’m managing a website and the people I want to invite aren’t interested in creating a wordpress account, they just want to be able to log in and post content. And I can’t blame them for it.

  Not unless they shared a user name & log-in – and given the number of problems I have seen in the forum that can have some security problems – I help Admin a blog and the two main contributors email me their Posts and I transfer them – but that is a bunch of extra work for me so it is a down side (they are both editors but struggle with the software a bit as they have not spent the time to get comfortable with the software)

  Why not? It’s free and there is no personal information required.

  And how could anyone log-in anywhere without some sort of account?
